We're Back from Gamescom 2026!
The sun sets on Gamescom 2026.
For the Gamescom team, Gamescom 2026 was the most successful in history, if measured by statistics like 368,000 visitors from 131 countries, 1,743 exhibitors from 66 nations, and an online viewership of over 600 million. Nevertheless, I still wanted to say something that might otherwise get left unmentioned against such a grandiose backdrop.
A huge thank you to everyone we met over the past few days. We had so many interesting conversations, got a closer look at some incredibly thoughtful and ambitious games, and came away with a lot of new ideas and perspectives.
For us at coherence, gamescom is always a great opportunity to understand what teams are building, where they are running into challenges, and how they think about multiplayer and connected experiences. It was also great to catch up with existing partners and hear how their projects are coming along, as well as meet developers working on new things. We heard about everything from games already using coherence to new ideas around XR, modular systems, and multiplayer. It is always interesting to hear where people are taking things, and where coherence might fit into that.
Some stands were huge...
What we enjoy most is meeting the people behind the games. Hearing how teams think about their projects, the decisions they make, the problems they are trying to solve, and what they are excited about.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to sit down with us, show us what you are working on, and have an open discussion. There are some seriously impressive games being built out there.
...and some were tiny!
It was intense, it was packed, and it was absolutely worth it. Even Deutsche Bahn did its best to make the trip a bit more interesting than planned, but somehow it still got the job done.
See you next year, Cologne!
Instead of a banana for scale, it is me.
